Eroded starter cable

We pulled this length of starter cable out of a mini excavator today with hard/slow to start issues.

After throwing away the can of aerostart and re-wiring the ignition to restore use of the glow plugs we got to the root of the problem.

This 300mm length of starter cable was completely corroded from end to end inside of its insulation causing the starter motor to seriously struggle. One very happy customer with a machine that fires straight up.
